Jewellery Trends for 2024

I’ve been scouring the runways and searching YouTube and stalking Instagrammers to find out what’s on trend for 2024.

You know that I love fashion – everything about it. Of course, today we are here to talk about the wearable jewellery trends for 2024.  I mean wearable too. Some of what you see of the catwalk you could never wear on the street, but we will talk more about that later.

You can find links to my Curated 2024 Jewellery Trends collection on Amazon.

Below is a quick description of each trend and a few images. There is a more extensive description and more images in the video.

Trend Number 1 - Quiet Luxury

Quiet luxury has been a trend for the past 6 months or so.  It’s a style that makes you look expensive, like you’ve got buckets of money to spend but it excludes anything gaudy or audacious.  Some people also refer to this as the old money style – the aim is to look like you’re wealthy but too wealthy to show it. If you want to dress in the quiet luxury style, you need to choose classic pieces that will stand the test of time.

Quiet luxury accessories are just that – quiet. They include minimal gold and silver pieces which are very understated.  Small pendants on either a long or short chain, or even just wear the chain on its own.

In this trend, earrings are small and refined in gold, silver, or pearl.

When I was young, I was all about the classic, what’s now called quiet luxury, but it no longer fits my personality or my look.

What do you think? Is this a trend you could embrace in the coming year?

Trend Number 2 - All Neutrals

You will notice as part of this quiet luxury trend, there has been a huge move towards wearing all neutrals, not so much all black as we’ve seen in years gone by, but there’s a lot of white, beige and tan out there.  These outfits always seem to be accompanied by gold jewellery.

That doesn’t work for this colourful gal!

And, it doesn’t have to work for you either. If you are more of a colour person, then embrace that.

So let’s move on to some of the other trends which, to be honest, are the opposite of quiet luxury!

Trend Number 3 - Oversized Everything

We are seeing a lot of oversized pieces of jewellery on the runway. Large pearls, chains, earrings – pretty much everything that can be oversized has been.

We’ll take a look into those in a bit more detail shortly.

Can imagine wearing this piece? I think it would be very heavy to say the least.

Trend Number 4 - Modern Pearls

Pearls are playing a huge part in accessories for 2024.  They are delicate and dainty, if you’re going with the quiet luxury trend but I much prefer the newer oversized pearls. They are chunky or worn in an edgy way. The pearl has popped up in edgy ear cuffs, bib necklaces, rings and chunky bracelets.

Here’s a pair of stunning pearl earrings. Unfortunately, these ones have a stunning price tag too but even though they are large, they have a more classic look about them.

If you want edgy (and I always do) why not try wearing multiple strands of large pearls with a centre focal pearl.

You could make a twisted pearl necklace using the same technique I used to make the ombre necklace a few weeks ago. That would be amazing made up in different sized pearls.

Last week I shared a tutorial for this pearl choker tutorial which would really work with the current pearl trend.

Trend Number 5  - Statement Earrings or One Earring

I personally love a good pair of statement earrings. I feel like they just elevate every outfit.  I’m so pleased that they are back.  This year statement earrings can be made of plain gold (not seeing much silver), or large beaded pieces.  What’s really interesting though is the one earring or uneven earring trend.

How do you feel about wearing two different earrings? Let me know in the comments section what you think about that.

6 Mixed Metal

I’m seeing lots of mixed metals out there.  Lots of silver and gold bracelets worn together with watches which seem to have made a huge comeback.

I’m also seeing a lot of pieces that are made from silver and gold in one piece like this gorgeous necklace.

Trend Number 7 - Flowers

This trend makes me so happy.  I love flowers and I love flower jewellery.

These are not the dainty flowers of days gone by, these are giant, chunky flowers on necklaces, earrings and brooches.

How fun is this earring.

We are also seeing flowers worn around the neck. Here’s a really cute one – also hitting that pearl trend.

8 Chunky Chains and Layered Chains

I actually love this trend, even though I haven’t’ really embraced it myself yet.  Wearing multiple chains all at the same just seems like fun to me.

Note this one is made from mixed metals. The good news here is that all you have to do is drag out some of your old pieces and wear them together.

If you prefer one piece of jewellery, how about this amazing one worn here by my friend Liz Klebba from Closet Play Image.  Liz is an image consultant and if you haven’t checked out her channel yet, please do so, you’ll love it.  I’ll leave a link in the description box so you can go over there next.

Trend Number 9 - Statement Rings

Large rings are making a comeback.  How do you feel about that? I personally find that large rings get in the way.  I do own a couple, like the one I’m wearing today.

Generally though, I like mine smaller that these ones.

The good news is that to make a statement with rings you don’t necessarily need to wear one huge ring, you could wear a few smaller ones.

I could get my head around that – what about you?

Trend Number 10 - Brooches

I am so excited that this trend has not disappeared.  You all know by now that I love brooches. I’ve done a couple of tutorials in the past like this blue flower brooch which covers two of this year's trends (flower and brooch).

This sunflower brooch also covers both of those trends as well.

We are also seeing the return to the safety pin brooches that were trendy a couple of years ago. That’s good news for those of you who still have them tucked away in your closet.

This one just happens to have pearls on it as well.

In 2023 the trend was to wear lots of brooches together.  That is not as popular but still there – or maybe that’s just because I want it to be! I’m still going to be wearing more than one brooch at a time when I choose to because that works with my style.

Trend Number 11 - Big Hoop Earrings

Yay! Hoops are back – did they ever really go away?  I love big hoop earrings so I’m really pleased they are back in style.

This year, they come with a bit of twist, they can be beaded, of course with pearls, they can be made of twisted metal, of course they could have pearls on them. They come in all shapes and sizes.

Here’s a beautiful example of a very different hoop earring.

Also note the model is wearing an ear cuff as well – another big trend for 2024.

Number 12 - Cuff Bracelets

Cuff bracelets are everywhere and in all shapes and sizes. They are often large plain metal pieces, gold or silver, and also worn matching on both arms.

Look at this stunning example. I could definitely see me wearing this.

These Pearl cuff bracelets hit two trends being pearls and double cuffs. Notice that she’s wearing two matching bracelets – that’s different but I like it!

If you want to make a cuff, you could watch this beaded cuff bracelet tutorial I did.

Let me know what you think of these 12 jewellery trends for 2024.  What will you be wearing and making in 2024?  Will you be adopting any of these trends?
