Living My Real Life

Happy weekend my friend! And what a weekend it is!  As I sit at my desk the wind is howling and the rain is pelting.  We are in the middle of a severe storm.  The photo above was taken earlier this week on a morning we had a heavy frost.  You can see the fog sitting above the city. It was super cold, but beautiful.  One of heaters died a few weeks ago and we have been missing it – this week more than most.

I’ve got a pot of gluten free chicken noodle soup cooking on the stove for lunch. This afternoon, I’m hoping for a little break in the weather so I can record a video (no, I’m not doing it outside but the sound of the rain and wind is loud).

It’s a good day to do some craft projects and sit in the front of the fire – if I had one.

On the Blog

This week I caught up on the blog. Over the last few weeks I’ve been really busy with my real jobs and so the blog has been a little neglected. I made another 5 minute earring tutorial and I also tested a method for making transparent labels.

Turquoise Teardrop 5 Minute Earrings

These earrings speak to me of summer – I could use some right now.  Turquoise is so beautiful, and these earrings really let that shine.  They are simple and quick to make and worth every second of the 5 minutes that it might take to make them. You will also only need three materials to make these earrings.

Spice Drawer Organization

After putting this job off for a really long time, I finally tackled sorting out this mess in my spice drawer.  I bought jars, I painted lids and I made labels. The last part of that statement was supposed to be the easy part but turned out to be really challenging.

I tested the laser printer, paper and tape method to see if that worked.  Will I do it again? Find out and see the after by reading this post.

Around the Web

My bathroom clock died last week and I’m missing it.  You may wonder why I need a clock in my bathroom – it’s because I absolutely love long showers and I lose all track of time.  Actually, it’s really great to have a clock in the bathroom when you are getting ready in the morning.

With a new clock in mind, I wondered if I could DIY one.  I went to Pinterest to find out.  Here’s what I found.

Pottery Barn Knock OffClock

I found this cute Pottery Barn knock off.  I like the simplicity of this clock and the farmhouse vibe.

Picture Frame Clock

I really like this clock made from a picture frame.  It looks super easy to make. The only problem is that I have a small space above the door, and I don’t think this one would fit.

The Navage Patch

Shiplap Clock

This clock at Thrifty and Chic looks pretty easy to make too. I like the rustic nature of this one but I’m not sure it’s exactly what I want.

Floral Wall Clock

I found this one on Etsy which is much closer to what I’m wanting. I like the idea of adding something floral to the bathroom.

I’m going to have to do some thinking around this.  I’ll keep you posted.

That’s all from me this week.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
