Style That Appreciates : Investing in Timeless Fashion for Long Term Value

Over the past few years you will have noticed that I’ve been transitioning more away from home décor posts and more into the fashion side of things with my jewellery tutorials and my interviews with Imogen about style.

It’s not that I don’t still love home décor but my focus has changed. Today, I wanted to talk to you a little bit about making smart investments in your wardrobe. In this post I discuss wise investments that not only add up financially but allow you to show them off as well - can you have your cake and eat it too? No doubt about it!

Why settle for average when there are smart investments out there that allow us to be stylish yet smart with our money?

Investing in High-End Jewellery: A Girl's Real Best Friend

Now, you know thatI love to make my own jewellery but there are some times when a piece of fine jewellery works better with your outfit.

For many women, diamonds are more than just an ideal way to invest their hard-earned cash; they're a safe haven. High-end jewellery such as Tiffany or Cartier pieces tend to hold or even increase in value over time. Shopping for diamonds shouldn't just be about treating yourself (although I certainly wouldn't advise against that!); rather it should also be seen as an investment. If you're ready to purchase some, check out this GCAL vs GIA guide for some key things to keep in mind when making your choice. Trust me; your future self will thank you when they can sell off that trusty tennis bracelet for a tidy sum. When walking downFifth Avenue wearing your fabulous necklace, remember you're not just turning heads; instead you're also showing off your financial savvy! Wear it and show it off; watch its value increase over time - after all, all that glitters isn't gold?

Building a Designer Wardrobe: Fashionable and Financially Ahead

I’m a self-confessed cheapskate when it comes to my wardrobe! There’s no doubt about that. I make a good amount of my own clothes but I’m no fashion designer. I do, however strive for a stylish, feminine and elegant look, with just a little bit of edge. For me, that can mean taking a classic piece and wearing it in an unexpected way. For example, pairing a Chanel Jacket with a pair of jeans and costume jewellery as shown here:

Owning designer pieces such as Chanel tweed jackets or Birkin bags not only adds sophistication to your outfit, but can be considered an investment piece comparable to the S&P500!

Yes! You heard me correctly!

Designer clothing and accessories from well-known fashion houses retain, or increase, in value with time due to supply and demand dynamics. Collectors worldwide desire limited edition pieces or iconic designs which keeps resale prices high for these items.

Next time you're considering purchasing that Gucci belt or Louboutin heels, think of it as investing! Don't just dress to impress; dress to invest!

Art Investments Can Pay Off

If you’re not into investing in your wardrobe, there are other ways to invest.

Let's talk art! No, not that kind you made in school with noodle necklaces and finger paint; real, high-quality pieces by emerging and established artists will bring significant returns.

Art is an unpredictable investment that offers both risk and reward; when done right, you could end up with something worth more than your house! Plus, art gives you the opportunity to express your exquisite taste while simultaneously growing in value on your wall.

Always keep in mind that art is about more than making money; it should also serve as a form of self-expression.Having a good knowledge of art will help you to become better at sparking conversations in social situations, and leaving behind something tangible that lasts beyond today.

So the next time you find yourself drawn to an art work or sculpture, take note not only of its aesthetic beauty but also of its investment potential. After all, who said Picasso couldn't compete with Wall Street?

So ladies, get those paint brushes out - now is the time to invest in yourself and your taste!

For me personally, I have my very own artist in residence (well she moved out but still available) – my daughter, Jenna.  I have several pieces in my home that she has created for me, including this amazing unicorn painting that hangs over our bed.
