I'm Back Baby!

I stopped blogging just over a year ago.  Leading up to that time my blog posts had been sporadic and I was not motivated to write.  There are many reasons for this, not the least of which was the stuff happening in my life.  Sometimes, life just throws you lots of curly ones and you end up feeling like you just can’t cope.  This was the case for me.  I was busy trying to keep up with my life, and blogging was just more than I could handle.

Having said that, there were other reasons why I stopped as well.  I was feeling a little confused about the purpose of my blog.  If you have followed my blog for a while, you will know that I had been cured of my gluten intolerance and irritable bowel syndrome, meaning that I could eat anything I wanted to.  You will also know that, as part of that healing process, I gave up sugar.  A large part of my blog was about my gluten free baking and I was no longer working on the wonderful creations that used to come out of my kitchen so there was nothing to write about.

After a while I actually went back to eating sugar although I’m not particularly happy with that decision - not sure it was a decision exactly, it just happened.  Why did it happen?  Simply because, as I said above, my life got too much for me and I found comfort in food (and 6 kilograms of added body fat!).

Am I happy as I am?  Well, I’m not unhappy but I do know that I felt a whole lot better when I wasn’t eating sugar.  So here’s what I’ve decided – I’m going to try and limit my sugar intake.  That means there can still be some wonderful baking and playing with new recipes to share with you all but I’ll try not to eat it all myself!  I’m really not that bad – I don’t think I’ve ever eaten a whole cake on my own.

I’ll also be writing about keeping myself and my family healthy in the most natural way possible.  I dabble in herbalism and have found a new passion in making skincare and soap – oh, it’s addictive so don’t worry you’ll be reading about that.

The other focus of my “new” blog will be my home and my other crafty creations.  I’ve written a few posts about the projects I’ve done and I will be continuing to do this as I finish them.  The trouble is that I keep forgetting to take before photos.  I have a couple of projects that I’ve finished that I can write about very soon.

So, watch this space.  I will do my best to bring you new and exciting things.
