The Cure Part 2

If you read my last post Merav the Tea Lady you will know that my health improved a great deal in the first few months of the year to the point where I was not in any pain and was able to, on occasion, eat gluten and dairy.  Well, I have even more good news!  I'm completely cured.

That's right, I said completely cured!  I can eat anything I like!

Let me tell you what happened...

A while ago, actually just after my last post, I was reading an amazing book called Mind Over Medicine by Lissa Rankin, MD and I had an epiphany.  This book is all about the placebo effect, the mind/body connection and how to cure yourself of illness or just stay well.  It's a great read and I highly recommend it.

I need to tell you a bit about my history so you can understand where I'm coming from here.  I was born 6 weeks early (in a hurry to see the World and I haven't stopped hurrying since).  When I was young I had lots of health problems - nothing major but enough for my Mum to keep a closer eye on me than my brothers and sisters.  For example, I have extremely pale skin (my brothers and sister are all olive skinned) so I was the one who always had to slather on the sunscreen while they were off playing.  I had several operations before I was 10, etc, etc.

Just so you know, my Mum is a wonderful woman who did her very best to look after me with the knowledge she had.  I love hear dearly and I'm grateful for the loving childhood I had.

Anyway, Mind Over Medicine got me thinking about how this could have affected my subconscious self image and I started thinking that if I'd always been told I was sick, maybe that's why I have been.  So, I decided this was worth exploring.

I went to see Tony Yuile of Lighthouse Hypnotherapy and together we worked through this issue doing some timeline work as well as some other hypnotherapy.  After just 3 sessions, I walked out of his office feeling like I was the healthiest person on the planet.  This was back in July.

I know you're probably thinking, if I had the cure all those months ago, why haven't I told you about it yet?  I do have a reason.  I wanted to make sure it would stick.  In the past, I've had allergy cures and they have been temporary but this was different.

I can't really explain it except to say that I know now that I am well and will be for the rest of my life.  Even if I get a cold or a headache, my attitude is different.  It's a minor hiccup, not a major.

Just so you know, I'm still drinking my teas - I've become quite addicted and when I do get a cold or other small ailment, I can treat myself.  I'm so intrigued by all of this that I've decided to do a herbal diploma course next year at Cottage Hill Herbs but that's a whole other story for another day.

I'm not saying that this will work for you - I just know it worked for me.  I also know that I had to discover the root cause of the problem before I could cure it.
